Frequently Asked Questions
If your question is not answered below, please feel free to contact us for any additional information.
Do babies cry & will I be able to hear the film?
This is our #1 FAQ and the answer is YES to both questions. From time to
time babies do cry, but that's the beauty of the event - it's ok if your
little one cries too. Most babies settle down once the lights are out.
There is a bit of gurgling in the audience and then most babies nod off to
sleep.
What if MY baby cries?
If your baby cries - you're among sympathetic friends! The theatre is dark, so chances are your baby will eventually fall asleep. If he or she starts to cry effusively, we suggest you step out into the lobby for a few minutes, but then you're a parent - you'll know what to do.
What kinds of movies does MFM show?
We try to show movies that will be entertaining to moms, but not too
distracting for babies. Typically romantic comedies and dramas work
well, but it all depends on what is available that week, what we think you
will enjoy, and what movie has been requested by our audience.
What is the recommended age for my little film critic?
Movies For Mommies recommends that Moms and Dads with infants 0-18 months come to the show. Some of our critics are as young as 7 days old and some toddlers have been known to snooze through the matinee. We leave it to each parent's discretion; the movies are for YOU to enjoy. We don't card babies at the door and we want to cultivate a love of movies from a young age, but if your baby has reached the stage where he or she is walking and unable to sit through a full length movie, you won't get the most out of the Movies For Mommies experience.
I've got an infant and a toddler - can I bring both of them?
Movies For Mommies won't turn anyone away. But keep in mind the movies
we screen are for adults - these are not kid's films. If you feel your
toddler would sit through the movie, or it's his or her nap time, then bring
them with you. Our suggestion: If you have a group of friends with kids,
form a rotating weekly toddler- sitting exchange so the rest of you can come
to the movie with your baby.
Can my friend come with me even if he/she doesn't have a baby?
What would a movie be if you couldn't enjoy it with a friend - bring them
along! We also welcome dads, grandparents and caregivers too. Each adult
will need to purchase a MFM ticket, babies are always free.
Most mom and baby programs require a time commitment, does MFM require one?
We don't require a time commitment; you can attend as many or as few movie events as you would like, at
any frequency. Though we are confident once you experience MFM, you'll be back!
